Raleigh, N.C. — A Small Miracle, Inc., owned by Janet and Rusty Presson of Goldsboro, was named the 2011 Special Olympics North Carolina Chairman’s Award winner, according to Keith L. Fishburne, president/CEO of Special Olympics North Carolina. The Presson’s received the award from Special Olympics NC Board Chairman Bill Richardson during the 2011 Special Olympics North Carolina Equestrian Tournament Opening Ceremonies in Raleigh on Sept. 30. The Presson’s were honored for their commitment to and support of Special Olympics North Carolina athletes.
Janet and Rusty Presson’s son Rob has been a Special Olympics participant for many years and is an avid rider. Special Olympics and the state-level equestrian tournament seemed a natural fit for both the family and their company, A Small Miracle, Inc which provides habilitative services to people with intellectual disabilities. For the past seven years, A Small Miracle has been the presenting sponsor of the state-level Special Olympics NC Equestrian Tournament. Janet Presson has served as a member of the Special Olympics NC Board of Directors since 2006. The Presson’s affinity towards Special Olympics has grown with their involvement. The family and company employees most recently raised $12,500 and rappelled from the 32-story Wachovia Capitol Center in Raleigh for the Over the Edge fundraiser benefitting Special Olympics on Oct.1. As their company has grown over the years, the Presson’s have generously increased their financial donation to Special Olympics NC and currently hold a Silver Level sponsorship.
