Bracy Absher, Special Olympics Team North Carolina - Aquatics

Bracy Absher of Team NC-Aquatics won two bronze medals in swimming on Thursday. In his own words, he describes his experience at National Games…

Competing with all these kids has been great. All of us have an opportunity to shine and this is how we do it; racing ‘til our hearts’ content. My favorite thing is competing and dancing and meeting people from different states and getting phone numbers from the ladies. I made a good friend from South Dakota. She is 19 and headed to college. She loves dancing as much as I do. I’ve met some of the volunteers, too and I’ve showed them some of my moves and they said I was a great dancer. I was trying to tell them to come to the dance so we could get out there on the floor. I went to the dance every night! Dancin’ clears your mind - at least it does for me. ‘Cause you never know what stars you’re gonna meet. One night, the boy that did our motto at Opening Ceremonies was there and I met him and got his autograph. What I would like is to meet the two movie stars from Opening Ceremonies [Tom Arnold & Eddie Barbanell]. I told my coach I want to meet the actor from the Ringer [Barbanell] because I’ve always wanted to be an actor and he could give me my big break! I would like to meet Mrs. Shriver too, just to thank her.

Bracy won three bronze medals in aquatics.
