Special Olympics now offers online courses to Special Olympics coaches
through a partnership with the American Sport Education Program
(ASEP). ASEP's
online courses can fulfill re-certification requirements for
Special Olympics coaches. Special Olympics coaches who have completed
the Special Olympics General Orientation and Skills Course may take
ASEP's online Coaching Youth courses to maintain certification/re-certification
in their respective sports. There is a fee for the ASEP courses;
Special Olympics does not receive any portion of those fees.

ASEP online courses include:
- Coaching Youth Basketball
- Coaching Youth Soccer
- Coaching Youth Softball
- Coaching Youth Tennis
- Coaching Youth Volleyball.
For SONC tests taken on-line, coaches will receive an ASEP code
to enter that will allow SONC to track participation and completion
of the program. Following the training, Coaches must complete and
submit the on-line test to SONC. SONC will follow-up with a confirmation
of completion letter sent to the coach and appropriate local coordinator.
Coaches who submit a copy of their ASEP receipt for payment can
submit the copy to SONC and receive a $15 reimbursement.
