Meet Cheerleading Athlete Sara Davis!SONC first offered Cheerleading in 2006. With its addition it became the 19th sport offered to local programs by SONC. RulesResourcesEvents OfferedIndividual Performance competition is available for athletes just starting out in cheerleading, or for programs without adequate numbers to form a team. Athletes will perform a cheer or chant while using specific skills to demonstrate their proficiency in cheering. Team Competition is offered in the traditional and Unified Sports models at three different levels. Criteria and restrictions for each level are found within the SONC Cheerleading Rules. Beginner team competition focuses on basic chants and motions. Intermediate team competition builds on the beginner level by introducing formation change and more intricate cheers. The advanced level is the highest level offered by SONC, and combines all the requirements of the other levels and sets the routine to music (similar to a high-school competitive cheerleading routine).
