Special Olympics New Hanover County partners with Wilmington Parks and Recreation for use of facilities and equipment. Our offices are located at 302 Willard Street in Downtown Wilmington. NEWS 9th Annual Special Olympics New Hanover Cty Polar Plunge & 5k Run -
The 9th Annual Polar Plunge along with a 5K Run-N-Plunge will be held on Feb.23, 2013, at The Boardwalk in Carolina Beach, NC. So, start to get that costume ready and a dance or skit prepared. This year we are adding a 5K Run to the Plunge activities and now you have more options to support the Special Olympic athletes in New Hanover County. New Hanover County Special Olympics hosts summer camp (News 14 Carolina)
PROJECT UNIFY Ashley High School, Hoggard High School and Laney Highs Schools are all pleased to be able to participate in Project Unify this year. Ashley High is currently participating for a third straight year under the direction of Peter Yucius. Hoggard is participation for the first time under the direction of Erik Wangenstein. Laney High is back with Project Unify for a second year under the direction of Bailey Graham. Project Unify is a grant program from the Department of Education that educates and activates our youth into leadership roles within Special Olympics North Carolina.
