What’s New This Year?
We are thrilled to be returning to Arnette Park and many of the wonderful things we’ve enjoyed there in past years. In addition, there are going to be new activities in Olympic Town. So much is arranged by the local Special Olympics Cumberland County program and we greatly appreciate their support and hospitality.
We are going to have more athletes than ever at this event with nearly 275 athletes and Unified Partners competing. We will be running 16 courts! It is increasingly important that coaches are listening to announcements and ensuring that the athletes are promptly reporting to competition and awards.

Family Information
There is no formal family registration process although we will ask them to sign-in at the information table so we can acknowledge their joining us.
Housing
Housing is only being arranged for local programs with more than 180 miles to drive to the event. If your local program needs to make housing arrangements at the local program’s expense, first get approval from the area director. All housing questions can be directed to Morgan Smallwood.
Delegation Check-In
Head Coach Check-In will take place at the venue 9:00-9:30am. The process will be as follows:
- Only the Head of Delegation or head coach should come to the check-in area to prevent congestion.
- Confirm possession of all athlete participation forms.
- Record scratches/no-show’s.
- Pick up arrival envelope containing welcome information and all nametags for the delegation.
- Confirm that you have all nametags at that time.
Lunch
SONC will provide lunch for delegations (registered athletes, coaches, chaperones, etc.). Family members are not included in these meals. An announcement will be made when lunch is available.
Lunch will consist of Jersey Mike’s sandwiches, chips, drinks, and a sweet. Lunch will be served by the Knights of Columbus and the Public Works crew so make sure to thank them when you see them!
You may request a vegetarian or gluten-free meal by notifying Morgan Smallwood no later than Wednesday, October 17.
Competition
Mandatory Coaches Meeting @ 9:30am - Attendance by at least one coach or representative from each local program at the coaches’ meetings is mandatory. Valuable information and updates are provided during these meetings. If the coach/representative does not attend, that program is subject to penalty, including loss of the ability to protest. Call Andrea Stamm at 919-818-4520 if someone is unable to attend due to circumstances beyond their control.

Special Reminders
In the case of inclement weather which becomes extreme and unsafe, everyone will be directed to their vehicles for shelter.
A brief Opening Ceremonies will be held at 10:00am at the venue. As soon as the delegation arrives, a representative will be directed to the coaches’ meeting while everyone else will be directed to a gathering area to prepare to view the Ceremonies.
Make yourselves comfortable! We encourage delegations to bring chairs to the event; many even bring their own tents for additional shelter. We will not have enough seating for everyone so remind family and friends to also bring chairs.
Please recycle! We go through a lot of plastic water bottles at these events so please make an effort to identify the recycling containers and use them. And remember before you recycle them that you can refill the water bottles all day long for more water.
We will have a DJ Shawn Sanders playing throughout the day.
Olympic Town activities will be offered 11:00am through 2:00pm at the venue. Activities include:
- Shawn Sanders DJ
- SONC Souvenirs
- Fall Festival booths
- Chick-fil-A Cow
- Booth – Terry Sanford HS Key Club
- Booth – Clark Park Nature Center
- Booth – Cumberland County Sherriff’s office
- Booth – Special Olympics Cumberland County
- Booth – Orkin
We Need Your Photos! We will not have official photographers covering this event so if you have an avid photographer with your delegation, we would love for them to send us their photos afterward.
