Congratulations Tony Harris of Nash County for being named Special Olympics North Carolina Athlete of the Month for October! Tony has been involved with Special Olympics for 22 years. He competes in athletics, basketball, bocce, bowling and softball! Tony is very competitive and works very hard to make himself and his teammates better. He is a joy to coach, does what is expected of him on and off the field and always gives his best effort in all he does.
The 38 year-old attends Edgecombe Community College and is an usher and choir member at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Rocky Mount. Tony also volunteers at fundraising events for Special Olympics Nash County. In his free time, Tony loves to play softball and bocce, watch TV and “talk to the ladies”.
Most memorable Special Olympics moment: Winning a gold medal in softball -1996.
