With more than 38,000 athletes statewide, Special Olympics North
Carolina is truly a grassroots organization that relies on volunteer
service to be able to provide year-round sports training and competition
As a result volunteer opportunities abound!
Individuals, groups, families...anyone can volunteer program! Volunteering
is for anyone who wants to help make a difference.
You name it, they do it! Special Olympics is a volunteer organization,
which means we need volunteers for just about everything. Volunteers
can coach athletes, help in
fundraising, coordinate events,
give office support, volunteer the day of events, serve on local
program committees, help with sport
development and so much more!
You can volunteer YEAR-ROUND! One of the most common misconceptions
about Special Olympics is we offer a once-a-year event. In reality,
Special Olympics provides year-round training and competition for
athletes, which means we need volunteers all the time.
You can volunteer in your local community year-round. You can also volunteer for one of our eight state-level events, including our Summer Games, Fall Tournament, Equestrian Tournament, Basketball & Cheerleading Tournament, Winter Games- Ice Skating, Winter Games- Alpine Skiing, Bowling Tournament and Bocce Tournament. Visit our statewide calendar for a complete listing of events in your area.
