With more than 38,000 athletes statewide, Special Olympics North Carolina is truly a grassroots organization that relies on volunteer service to be able to provide year-round sports training and competition As a result volunteer opportunities abound!

Who can volunteer?
Individuals, groups, families...anyone can volunteer program! Volunteering is for anyone who wants to help make a difference.

What does a volunteer do?
You name it, they do it! Special Olympics is a volunteer organization, which means we need volunteers for just about everything. Volunteers can coach athletes, help in fundraising, coordinate events, give office support, volunteer the day of events, serve on local program committees, help with sport development and so much more!

When can I volunteer in North Carolina?
You can volunteer YEAR-ROUND! One of the most common misconceptions about Special Olympics is we offer a once-a-year event. In reality, Special Olympics provides year-round training and competition for athletes, which means we need volunteers all the time.

Where can I volunteer?
You can volunteer in your local community year-round. You can also volunteer for one of our eight state-level events, including our Summer Games, Fall Tournament, Equestrian Tournament, Basketball & Cheerleading Tournament, Winter Games- Ice Skating, Winter Games- Alpine Skiing, Bowling Tournament and Bocce Tournament.
